Safety Committees
Safety Committees serve to assist campus, college, departments/units in providing healthy, safe and secure environments for learning, work and research.
These committees provide
- communication of requirements and best practices to their respective groups,
- assist with identifying and mitigating hazardous situations, and
- working with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) to ensure area inspections are completed and assigned corrective actions are taken.
Organizational Structure of Campus Safety Committees
The University of Utah has an organizational structure of safety committees to develop strategies to meet or exceed safety standards as outlined by local, state, and federal regulatory bodies.
Institutional Safety Committees
The Campus Health and Safety Committee provides the overall safety standard oversight.
Campus Safety Committees
Campus Safety Committees review and approve protocols for working with each of the respective subjects and/or materials.
College/Department Safety Committees
College/Department Safety Committees develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement to safety in their units.
