College/Department Safety Committees
Colleges, Departments, Schools and/or Units are encouraged to charter their own safety committees to identify goals and objectives, develop and implement strategies for continuous improvement to safety in their units, and communicate gaps in performance and resources to upper management and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS).
Persons serving on these committees should represent and communicate the concerns of their peers to the committee and in return communicate safe practices, goals and objectives of the committee and act as resources to those in their units. Ultimately, the committee members should champion a culture of safety, and help foster the relationship between the personnel in the unit and EHS.
